Review / Lipcote

I, finally, got my hands on one of those!!!
It was a bit of a quest tho: after visiting a few Boots and Superdrug in vain, I found it in the smallest Boots at the train station.

I've never used Lipcote before but after the aggressive campaigning to re-launch it - which could be spotted on their facebook page and many blogs - I decided I had to get one!!! You see, advertise works!!! ;)
Anyway, the first thing I noticed is the smell! It's so strong of Alcohol, pure alcohol and in fact I'm a bit aware of putting it on my lips, to be honest.

It definitely seems to seal the lipstick a gret deal but not completely. I can still see a stain on my glass.
Also, I find it a bit drying and it changes the finish of the lipstick - they all look matte now.
I've seen few bloggers mixing few drops with lipstick before application (that is not even suggested on the actual box) so I may try this method too.

The problem is that the pungent alcohol doesn't stop to the smell but I can also taste it in my food!!!
Personally, I don't mind reapplying the lipstick normally but It would have come in handy when going out to a restaurant... but not if it's going to ruin my dinner. In conclusion - in my opinion - it's a waste of money.

Have you tried it yourself? do you like it or do you hate it? :)

  3. I've never tried this brand before but I think the alcohol smell would certainly put me off, no one would want that on their lips all day? Surely?

  5. I don't get why everyone is going on about lipcote lately, I've used it before and I thought it was rubbish! It stinks and dried out my lips.

  6. I've never even heard of this product...I don't like the idea of tasting alcohol in my food! MAC lip pencils work fine in my opinion :)

  9. I have used Lipcote for a while now but really dislike the drying effect. Its great at making my lipstick last longer but I find I lick my lips more due to the dryness it gives, then they go all bitty :-(

Thanks for commenting on my blog about the Models Own brushes, they are from Boots :-)

  10. I have the same problem with any kind of lip product that claims to be 'long-lasting'. Peeling, dry, sticky lips are not a good look even if my colour stays put! :( I have decided that religiously reapplying is the only answer! Not good if you're a bit lazy like me...
