New In / Glo & Ray

Today I’m going to talk about Glo & Ray – a new British make up brand, founded in London in 2012.
Their goal is to create a cosmetic line that enables women to express themselves, complimenting their feminine beauty and with professional quality.

The range includes products for the eyes, face and lips and - although pretty essential - it is only bound to grow with time.

First off, I love the satin black packaging!
The Glo & Ray Mirage Mousse Eye Shadow comes in a minimal, sleek and sexy matte black pot – there are 8 shades available in the collection, all extremely wearable - from burgundy to copper to brown.
Caramel Candy* is a slightly warm brown with gold shimmer that looks stunning on its own or can be used as a base/primer for your favorite eyeshadow.
This neutral colour will suit any skintone, it’s extremely versatile; it's really beautifying and effortless to use: the creamy texture  transforms into powder and blends easily. It lets you add layers that play with the light, adding luminosity with every move.

I have to say I was chuffed to try this brand that I hadn't heard much about before - the Nuage Solo Blush and La Amo Creamy Matte Lip Colour sound fab too - head over here to check out the range and you'll find some gift sets too for your Christmas treats!
Have you heard of this brand yet?

Review / Liz Earle EyeBright Soothing Eye Lotion

This Spring/Summer my hayfever has been, particularly, horrendous.
I take prescription medication for my allergies, so my pills are really quite strong but they don't seem to be cutting it, recently. My eyes, especially, have been constantly red and dry - if you suffer from allergies, I'm sure you know very well what I'm talking about! :(
What has really come to the rescue is the Liz Earle EyeBright Soothing Eye Lotion* - first time, I've been using it and I'm so impressed - you can, definitely, appreciate a product at its best, in the moment of crisis...

I've, totally, ditched the Bioderma  - which made my eyes even drier, at the end of the day (weirdo... never happened before... I put it down to my current sensitivity issues) and removing my eye make up with the Liz Earle lotion.
I just pour a little bit on a cotton wool pad and swipe it over my eyes, gently; this will remove most of the make up but not get rid of it completely... but I'm not bothered about it as I always finish off, washing my face with the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and this product also never ever sting my eyes.

Love the twist up cap - it's great for travelling, too.

Another application for this gentle, herbal lotion is to soothe and refresh the eyes:
I soak 2 cotton wool pads, place them over my eyes and then top it with my eye gel mask (I've had it for over 10 years and I keep it in the fridge so It's always ready to use).
I've been enjoying this mini therapy session about 3 times a week... and for about 10 minutes I can totally relax, laying on my bed with my eye shut!

By the way, have you check the make up colour wheel yet?
You'll find all the information you need about the new range and it, also, have spaces next to the shades so you can swatch your current products and find the closest match - What a great idea indeed!
I have already got the cream blusher in Camelia, powder blusher in Rose on my wishlist!!! :)

Finally, I just wanted to mention that Evelyn - over at We Were Raised By Wolves - also has a great post about fighting hayfever... you should check it out! :)

GlossyBox arrives in Italy!!

Great news!!
I have just subscribed my sister - we made a deal: I pay for the box and she is going to write a wee guest post for my blog (plus, I can 'steal' any product I want when I go back home.. hehe).

I'm excited, of course, to see how it will compare to the British version; I believe the first one is expected to arrive in October... not long to wait.

Stay tuned. :)

Giveaway - coming soon...

Hello readers!
That's right, I have decided to do a giveaway when I reach 50 followers... so, if you enjoy reading my blog, recommend it to your friends, pretty please :D

As anticipated in my previous post, the winner will receive the new Revlon Facets of Fuchsia (and btw, these were the last 2 bottles in the Boots Glasgow Buchanan Gallery), a couple of no7 goodies and I'm planning to pick up some make up when I go to Italy next month (maybe brands that are not easy to find in UK, so you can give it a try...)

Sounds good? Well, I will start the giveaway next week - so stay in touch for more info...

besos

Biba Fever

I just bought this bracelet in House of Fraser last week.
It was on sale for £36, down from £120. I tried it on in the store but the sale assistant informed me that the piece was damaged and couldn't sell it (why was it still on display then??!); anyway, I check the website and they had one left so I ordered it with 'Buy & Collect' option. I think it's a great service, considering the delivery is free and the item will be available the next day.

Biba Black and Gold Logo Chain Bracelet

I got the matching stud earrings too; I bought these last year with a gift voucher for my birthday.

I appreciate the attention put into the brand, from the bag to the wrapping to the velvet pouch.

More exciting news from Biba!!!
House of Fraser is releasing a make up range on the 1st of October.
The inspiration behind it is 1930' Hollywood Glam with rich colours and metallic shades, perfect for winter.
The capsule collection will include: eye palette, lip palette, face palette, nail varnishes, lashes and lipgloss ring.

Prices are affordable, starting with the ring at £15 - I have already eyed it!!! :)
For the rest of the products, I want to first try them in store to see if I like them.

Are you planning on picking up something too?

Friday, 18 March 2011

I haven't been shopping in a while - partly because I work from home now so there's less temptation, but also because I've been trying to save money for a very special day next year... hehe :)
anyway, I was out in town this morning to pay some bills (buuuuuuu!!!) and decided to treat myself! :P
Basically, I tried Givenchy Photo'Perfexion Light on my hand a couple of weeks ago but then totally forgot about it; then, yesterday I was clearing the pockets of my coat and found this tissue - which I used to clean my hand - and was really impressed by the shade and sparkle of the product so decided to give it a go...

next stop was Topshop: here I bought some earring & shell necklace (both on sale) and exchanged an item for the long gold colour necklace; I used some vouchers from christmas to pay so technically I didn't spend a penny.

finally in Boots got few bits and bobs - also using my points so no money spent here either... hehe :)

CORAL - nail was all about cora this season so I picked up these from Rimmel; the one on the left is part of the scented collection (fed up on waiting to try the Revlon ones which haven't been relised in the UK yet). Once dry it really smells as apricot, really lovely but the smell didn't last long as the varnish which chipped after a couple of days. really disappointed.
the one on the right - ILOVE! it's called coralicious and it's like a neon red, really bright and fun.

I finished my Touch Eclat over the Christmas holidays and i liked it but i don't think it's as great as everybody says. For example Clinique' Line Smoothing Concealer  gives better results.
Anyway, i wanted to try the new Erase Paste by Benefit, so went into Boots to have a make up section: i've been using it for a couple of days now and i DO DO like it; it comes with a spatula to get it out of the jar and bacteria free. =)
i also got Moon Beam... tried High Beam before, but i find 'the Moon' better for mixing with the foundation.

Also bought a perfume from the new Gwen Stefani rage: Harajuku Lovers!

They are just 12 quid, so you can also collect all of them, but honestly i just like one of the fragrances: BABY.

Finally, HEY, i CAN'T resist a freebie (especially with a makeup bag included!) =P
